Ode to an Acorn
Ode to an Acorn
I’ve always loved acorns! They are so great looking and when you think that they can one day be a mighty oak, is awe-inspiring.
The ceramic stand is small but perfect for displaying this mighty acorn.
It’s a nature-art object
Ceramic holder made by Priscilla Woolworth in the Hudson Valley, New York. Acorn found near her River’s Edge Farm.
This acorn is from a red oak tree.
Did you know that acorns have many uses. If you smash up an acorn, you can use it to dye fabrics and yarn due to the tannins within the acorn. If you like to cook, you can make cookies with acorn flour. You can reuse them for fertilizer by mashing them up and adding them to homemade compost.
The squirrels love collect the acorns and bury all throughout my garden beds. After a year or two, I’ll find mighty baby oaks sprouting up all over the place!
